The initiative aims to equip young people aged 16 to 28 with the tools to make informed decisions about their educational and career paths, strengthen their skills and reduce dropout rates in training programmes.

BOGOTÁ (GOYA News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO)in partnership with the Colombia’s Ministry of Labour, has launched the Vocational Guidance Programme, an initiative targeting 600 young people aged 16 to 28 who have been affected by the armed conflict. The programme aims to help them shape their life plans and facilitate their transition into training and employment. It will be implemented in Bogotá, Valledupar, Ibagué and Barranquilla, with 150 young people participating in each municipality.

The programme is delivered through a 150-hour diploma course designed to prepare participants for further training and entry into the labour market. It will provide them with tools to make informed decisions about their educational and career paths, identify their interests and skills, and develop life plans aligned with their aspirations and the opportunities available in the world of work.
The initiative seeks to support young people at a decisive stage in their personal and professional development. It promotes guidance processes that help reduce dropout rates in training programmes and encourage more active and sustained participation in education and employment opportunities.

This approach aims to strengthen participants’ personal and planning skills, creating better conditions for their subsequent access to skills development opportunities and the labour market.

Through this initiative, the ILO and the Ministry of Labour reaffirm their commitment to developing skills for work, promoting social inclusion and expanding opportunities for young people affected by the armed conflict. The programme seeks to foster training pathways that contribute to sustainable life plans and access to decent work.
