Formándonos para la Paz strengthens training and employment opportunities for victims of Colombia’s armed conflict

The Integral Training Programme strategy, implemented by the Ministry of Labour and the ILO, continues to strengthen skills for formal employment and the social and labour inclusion of victims of the armed conflict in priority municipalities across the country.

BOGOTÁ (GOYA News) – The Ministry of Labour and the International Labour Organization (ILO) continue to promote Formándonos para la Pazone of the strategic lines of the Integral Training Programme (PFI), which strengthens training opportunities for employment and social and labour inclusion for 1,800 victims of the armed conflict in priority municipalities across Colombia.

The strategy provides technical training, socio-emotional skills development and professionalization pathways aimed at facilitating access to formal employment. Through territorial-based support, it seeks to strengthen participants’ capacities to build sustainable life projects and expand their opportunities for labour market integration.

More than simply providing training, Formándonos para la Paz promotes the development of skills that respond to the needs of labour markets and territories, linking training with real opportunities for economic and social inclusion. This approach contributes to strengthening people’s autonomy and helping them move towards more stable employment pathways.
The implementation of the strategy recognizes that training for work is a key element in processes of comprehensive reparation and peacebuilding, by expanding opportunities to access decent work and generate sustainable incomes.

With a territorial approach, activities are adapted to the social, economic and productive characteristics of each priority municipality, supporting relevant training processes for communities and strengthening local capacities for development.

The strategy also incorporates communication activities that highlight the life stories of participants, showing how training and skills development can become opportunities to transform personal trajectories, promote social and labour inclusion and contribute to peacebuilding in the territories.

Through Formándonos para la Paz, the Ministry of Labour and the ILO reaffirm their commitment to continuing to promote decent work and social justice as tools for expanding training, employment and inclusion opportunities for victims of the armed conflict in Colombia.
