“With the ILO’s support, I’m discovering my future”: Jossuarth Herney and the power of technology from Arauca, a region of diverse ecosystems and natural beauty.
Desde las cálidas calles del municipio de Arauca, Jossuarth Herney Cáliz López, un joven de 16 años con una mente inquieta y un corazón disciplinado, está construyendo su futuro profesional impulsado por la tecnología, la innovación y la formación que le ha brindado el proyecto SENATIC, una alianza entre MinTIC, el SENA y la OIT.
Con su mirada fija en las finanzas y la automatización de datos, este estudiante del grado 11 de la Institución Educativa Técnica Cristo Rey, nos demuestra que el estudio es una herramienta poderosa para transformar sueños en oportunidades reales.
Nacido el 7 de diciembre de 2008 en el municipio de Arauca, capital del departamento homónimo, Jossuarth Herney Cáliz López creció rodeado de amigos, un sol radiante y unas calles tranquilas que le regalaron una infancia feliz. En este entorno amigable forjó desde pequeño una personalidad aplicada y curiosa, siempre atraído por el estudio y el conocimiento.
Hoy, con 16 años y cursando el último año de bachillerato, Jossuarth hace parte del proyecto SENATICproject, where he has found a space for learning, technology and innovation a door to a whole new world. Although it was confusing at first “because it was something completely new to me” he quickly adapted, and now not only enjoys each session, but has also launched his own digital automation project.
“It used to be very hard to get connected. Now, with what I’ve learned through SENATIC, I can create things I never imagined,”he says proudly. One of his most recent developments is an automated AI workflow that allows him to generate and publish daily videos for Instagram an example of how his curiosity for technology has become a creative and practical tool.

He dreams of studying finance and specialising in management, una ruta que considera coherente con su perfil analítico y su visión del mundo laboral. “Mi mamá se sorprende por todo lo que sé hacer. Todo lo que se daña en la casa, me busca a mí para que lo repare. Eso la hace sentirse muy orgullosa”, afirma Jossuarth con una sonrisa tímida.
Más allá de lo académico, Jossuarth equilibra su vida entre el deporte —practica microfútbol y tenis— y el estudio. Se mantiene alejado de fiestas o distracciones y enfoca su energía en seguir creciendo. A otros jóvenes les dice con claridad: “You have to seize these opportunities in life. Studying is worth it, because one day, everything we learn becomes useful.”
Jossuarth is a shining example of a generation that, with tools like SENATIC and the ILO’s support along their learning journey, is transforming realities from historically marginalised and remote regions proving that dreams have no limits when nurtured with discipline, focus and passion.
Más allá de lo académico, Jossuarth equilibra su vida entre el deporte —practica microfútbol y tenis— y el estudio. Jossuarth Cáliz López is one of the 33,000 learners continuing in 2025 with the SENATIC Project an alliance across Colombia between the Ministry of ICT, SENA and the ILO, supporting young people in the technical secondary education stream.
